Children gathering and waving outdoors

Patrick Kato Busuulwa was eight when he lost his mother. His grandmother gave him a home alongside five other children. When she died, Patrick was just 17. As the oldest, he took on responsibility for the children she had been raising.

That experience became a calling. Patrick founded and now manages Grace & Hope, a community of care for 70 children in Uganda.

Our mission is simple: a safe place to belong, care children can depend on, and the opportunity to learn and grow.

Meet the heart of our work
Our children

Small, everyday things.
A world of difference.

A meal shared. Encouragement with school. Someone to turn to. This is where a more secure childhood begins.

A shared meal being served to the children

Care for today.

Meals, clothing and daily essentials help meet the needs of the children who depend on the program.

Room to learn.

Education, encouragement and support give children space to discover their abilities and look ahead.

A place to belong.

A permanent home means a place to return to, people to rely on and the stability to plan for tomorrow.

The walls are standing.
Help make it home.

After the uncertainty of renting and an eviction, Patrick bought land and began building a permanent home. The shell is complete. Now it needs the everyday things that make a house a home.

A kitchen where meals begin. Bedrooms where children can rest. Spaces to learn, laugh and grow together.

A little more to know

Hope starts
with understanding.

A few answers about our work and the ways you can be part of it.

What does my monthly sponsorship support?

Your contribution supports the program as a whole, helping provide meals, daily essentials, education and care for the children. Sponsorship levels are ways to give regularly, rather than individual child sponsorships.

Can I help complete a particular room?

Yes. Your family, business or congregation can contribute toward the living room, kitchen, one of three bedrooms, or the garden. Space sponsorships all contribute toward the same US$16,000 home completion goal.

Is the school van part of the home budget?

No. The approximately US$30,000 school transportation project is separate from the US$16,000 needed to finish and furnish the home.

Who leads Grace & Hope?

Founder Patrick Kato Busuulwa manages the program. George helps oversee the boys and supports practical tasks, health and sanitation. Ruth helps care for the babies and girls, and offers guidance to the older girls.

How is the organization registered?

The program is registered as a community-based organization under the name G&H Charity Foundation. Registration number: ZIG.TC/101/2025.
